Our pork is cooked twice so that it’s rendered right down. First it is braised in our own master stock - then it is deep fried.  Finally, it's finished off with our authentic caramel sauce and served with jasmine rice and Asian pickles. (Traditionally served with meats to help digestion.)

The very best bits of rice are those at the bottom of the pack where they have absorbed the sauce and gone beautifully caramelly and sticky!

While there is chilli in the recipe, it's not at all overpowering. It just adds to the flavour and gives a background warmth. Lots of our customers who are a little chilli-shy have told us that they really enjoy it. (Which might be why they're ordering them 3 or 4 at a time........)

Heat this to your own taste. Some like the pork to be very tender and soft and juicy - and so it's advised to slowly heat up till you find your sweet spot. If you like tender we'd recommend heating in the microwave for about 3 1/2 minutes, and then tasting to see how you find it. Others like to cook it more, when it tends to go much chewier and drier, and more caramelly.

This dish features truly authentic flavours as it has been cooked for us by our Singaporean chef.

Ingredients:
Jasmine Rice (51%): Jasmine rice
Pork Belly (35%): Master stock (soy sauce, water, eschallot, ginger, dark soy, coriander roots, garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick), corn flour, chilli caramel sauce (dark palm sugar, water, light palm sugar, red long chilli, fish sauce, salt, ginger, dried chilli flakes), sichuan pepper
Asian Pickles: (14%) Cauliflower, water, carrot, eschallot, white cabbage, cucumber, green beans, pineapple, rice vinegar, toasted sesame seed, sugar, canola oil, red long chilli, salt, candlenut, garlic, turmeric powder

Heating Instructions:

Warning:  The pork has been cooked till tender.  If you overheat or blast this meal in the microwave the pork will unfortunately go tough and chewy.  Please be gentle with it!

Open lid.  Preferably place meal into a ceramic dish.  If not, place container on a plate to heat in microwave.  Alternatively, place container on a plate to heat in microwave.


From Frozen: Heat for 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 minutes on high, or until contents are hot. Let stand for 2 minutes before serving.
From Thawed: Heat for 2-3 minutes on high, or until contents are hot. Let stand for 2 minutes before serving.
As the heating capacity of individual microwave ovens varies so much, heating temperatures and times are a guide only.

While our dishes are cooked separately, and every care is taken, this meal has been prepared in a kitchen where meals containing gluten, nuts, seeds, eggs and soy are also made.
